My Books

As we approach Christmas, this is a busy time for book sales. I notice that average book prices have risen significantly recently and I haven’t actually put my prices since I started in 2013. So, I’ve added a modest increase of £1 across the board.

Current prices;

  • In the Shadow of the Bayonet £9
  • Out of the Shadow £10
  • Recovery £9
  • Green Terror £8
  • Identity £9
  • The Welsh Boys £9
  • An Island Life £9
  • Missing £11

Book talks attendance fee now £60.

These prices are still very competitive. An average paper back now can be as much as £12. If you’re buying online, do check what’s available, some of the big suppliers charge more that. Direct from me, all copies are signed and within the local area I’ll even bring them to you.

I’m excited to be publishing Book 9, RESCUE. I’ve drafted all nine stories and really enjoyed writing them. They are in the publishing process and I anticipate release in Spring 2023.

Early notice of Book 9

Book 9 is at the publisher and due to be released in the new year.

It’s another collection of short stories, called RESCUE. It will be available direct though me priced at £11, or at any of the craft fayres I attend, or Amazon and the like.

There are all, of course cracking good stories!

A successful summer of events

As a refreshing contrast to the disruption caused by Covid 19, all events anticipated for summer 2022 have now been successfully completed! Uttoxeter Craft Market continues to be a stalwart with fayres held on the last Saturday of the month. The Queens Platinum Jubliee offered many opportunities to celebrate. I attended the Uttoxeter Racecourse event which attracted thousands of people for a good family day out. Eccleshall street market did well to overcome wind and rain to bring a traditional feel to the streets of Staffordshire. Book talks also remain a key approach to promoting my books featuring the WI, Probis and The Eagle Dinning Club. Stafford also managed to stage a full Litfest weekend programme.

It was particularly pleasing to meet repeat customers over this period to be able to hear people’s experience. I look forward to meeting more of you at future events.

PLEASE NOTE Folks that I am selling my books at their original price. The big on line retailers have inflated their prices and print prices on new books are about to rise again. All books purchased direct from me are best value at the moment and all are personally signed.

Future Opportunities to view and buy my books

Now that many local people have bought their first book in either the two ‘Shadow‘ books or the series of three based on the adventure of Emma and Rory culminating in ‘An Island Life‘, interest has been expressed in having access to buy those later books. Should you wish to do so local people are welcome to contact me by email on:

staffordauthor@gmail.com

and I can arrange to meet or deliver further books to you.  Alternatively I have booked to attend the following events over the next few months where you could have ready access to further personally signed copies.

I would also welcome your views on what you have read so far.

  • 23rd April Uttoxeter Indoor Craft Market
  • 20/21/21 May Stafford Lit fest, a range of literary events in the town centre over the whole weekend
  • 4th June Uttoxeter Racecourse event to celebrate the Queen’s Jubilee
  • 6th June Book Talk to Cannock Probus Group
  • 25th June Eccleshall Street Market.

Regards,

Chris

Stand at Uttoxeter Craft Fair

December news

As lockdown restrictions began to lift Chris was able to resume giving talks to local groups and attending craft fayres. The monthly market at Uttoxeter has proved to be particularly successful. Feedback from MISSING continues to be encouraging.

Spring 2021

As we start to emerge from lockdown, I am dusting off my presentation and making contact again with voluntary groups to arrange book talks for this summer and beyond.

It will be great to get back to engaging with groups again. I’ve also bid for a place at Uttoxeter Arts and Crafts market when that resumes.

I note that Amazon have raised the prices of my books on their website, which seems odd. All books available direct from me remain at the original prices quoted on each book.

I also mention that ‘Kevin goes to work’ is not one of mine!

Missing – A Preview

Chapter 1

It was the not knowing, she thought. The constant
wondering – what had really happened? She asked
herself that question over and over again.
Richie seemed OK. Nothing obvious appeared to
be bothering him. He shouted goodbye as usual as he
left the house for a walk. He loved walking. He
walked miles, sometimes with others but often alone,
usually directly from the house into the local area.
That day was no different, except on that particular
day Richie didn’t return.
Life had been so difficult without him. What do
you tell people? How long do you hang on to the
hope that he might yet return? At what point do you
try to accept it, stop obsessing about what might have
happened. None of the answers were forthcoming…
