Covid-19 presents a challenge to us all and we can all help to play our part in defeating this virus. Based in Stafford, in my street we have identified those working in essential services including the NHS and offered help and support where appropriate. We have set up a text group on whatsapp to exchange ideas and as an emergency helpline. Staff at the local County Hospital tell me that they have been well supported by the community with offers of food and donations. The Hospice too, like all in the charitable and voluntary sector desperately need our support.
A local fruit and vegetable shop in the town has created a collection and distribution point to provide food and essentials to families in need.
As a volunteer for Meningitis Research Foundation I have contacted those with broader shoulders to seek financial support to maintain the services offered to combat this more serious disease. As a writer I have also sent out short pieces to friends a followers reflecting on current circumstances.
It remains to be seen to what extent this warm and generous reaction and sense of community will remain once we are past this crisis. I am hopeful.
Stay Safe,
Chris Boult.
